BRIDGETOWN PLANNING AREA SECONDARY PLANNING STRATEGY AND LAND USE BYLAW REVIEW

Background:

The Bridgetown Planning Area review commenced in December 2022 after Municipal Council passed the motions in 2017 and 2018 to review the existing Planning documents dated 1999 and include the proposed Bridgetown Water Supply Area, and the municipal sanitary sewer serviced areas of Carleton Corner and Church Street in an extended Bridgetown Planning Boundary.

Further, the Province proclaimed Bill 58 in December 2018, requiring municipalities without planning documents in planning areas to put them in place and those with existing planning documents over 10years to review and update. This direction included the Annapolis County secondary planning areas.

During the Plan review, the Bridgetown Area Advisory Committee proposed the extended Bridgetown Planning Area Boundary at the 8 Area Advisory meetings held in 2022 and 2023. In 2023, the review was postponed until 2024, when C+D Consulting was retained to complete the project and is now conducting public consultations.
