MOVIN@ANNAPOLISCOUNTY: A GUIDE TO OUTDOOR ADVENTURE

MOVIN@ANNAPOLISCOUNTY: A GUIDE TO OUTDOOR ADVENTURE

Annapolis County, September 21, 2021 – The County of Annapolis has launched a new webpage that will help outdoor enthusiasts of all levels plan their next outdoor adventure.

The County has teamed up with “Ride with GPS” to offer a free mobile app that will allow users to record their ride. It saves location data for photos taken while recording journeys so when a person uploads their outing and photos, they'll see where each picture was taken. It is a tool to help people chart their exploration for private use or to share with others.

“Annapolis County has always been a leader in mapping and promoting paddling, cycling and hiking opportunities through a variety of publications” said Debra Ryan, Community Outreach and Tourism Manager. “This is just the next step in showcasing the numerous routes available throughout the region.

The Movin@AnnapolisCounty is found on the County website. It features a webpage that depicts four route choices: ATV, Cycling, Hiking, and Paddling. The user is able to click on any of the coloured lines to view the route, then click on the "View Route" to get the details and to access the "Send to Device", which will download the GPS route to their device.

The page offers 75 mapped routes (ATV – 3, Hiking – 7, Cycling – 31, and Paddling - 34); however, with the Ride With GPS app, users can record a route and then share it by emailing it to Movin@AnnapolisCounty.ca.  If the route is all public access it can be posted on the County’s site.

“Presently we are working with other groups and individuals to share their routes. There are so many backroads and hidden gems that people have been exploring for years, it would be wonderful to communicate this to others who, in turn, could share with future generations to come.”
