Information for Candidates

In order to run for Municipal Council:
  • You must be 18 years of age at the time of nomination
  • You must be a Canadian citizen
  • You must have been ordinarily resident (meaning your primary residence is here in Annapolis County) for 6 months preceding nomination day (by March 7th), and you continue to be a resident in Annapolis County
  • You must have obtained a certificate that, as of nomination day, the charges that are liens on your property and the taxes due to The Municipality have been fully paid or all installments or interim payments that are due as of nomination day have been paid (This can be done in person when nomination papers are filed)
  • You are not disqualified under the Municipal Elections Act

Nomination day will be September 8, 2020. Nominations can also be made by appointment in the previous 7 business days - August 27 to September 4. To book your appointment please contact the Returning Officer Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm.
