COUNCILLOR NEWTON ANNOUNCES HIS RESIGNATION FROM MUNICIPAL COUNCIL
Annapolis Co., September 21, 2011 – Councillor Peter Newton, District 7, surprised many councillors during regular session of Municipal Council on September 21st when he announced his resignation effective September 30th.
Councillor Newton has served on Annapolis County Municipal Council for the past 16 years; six of which he held the position of
Warden. He said he was leaving for professional reasons having recently accepted a position with a local company. “It has been an honour to serve the residents of District 7 and Annapolis County over the past 16 years,” said Councillor Newton. “I would like to say a heart-felt THANK YOU to all those who supported me during these years. My resignation was not made without considerable thought, however; everything in life has a season. My season as an Annapolis County councillor has ended.”
Council regrettably accepted Councillor Newton’s resignation and wished him all the best in the future.
“He is an excellent Councillor who has always served the people of Annapolis County with respect and dignity,” said Warden Reg Ritchie. “Municipal Council and the residents of District 7 will surely miss his exemplary leadership.”
